Complying with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 means to as far as is reasonably practicable, identify and manage the risks in a property – risks that can include exposure to Asbestos for workers, clients and others.
Responsibility for Property Owners
Responsibility for creating an Asbestos-free environment falls on the owner of the property. Separate to the Work Health and Safety legislation, property owners have liability for any hazardous material located on their property that may cause harm to any person. This liability comes from the Civil Liability Act, as well as the duty of care common law.
