How Asbestos testing works:
The Enviroscience DIY Asbestos Test Kit and video below shows you how to safely take a sample of bonded or non-friable Asbestos and get a fast NATA accredited result.
Finding out if it is Asbestos is easy if you know how. Simply follow these steps:
Asbestos in your home
To find out what Asbestos looks like you need to undertake Asbestos Laboratory testing as Asbestos cannot be identified by a visual inspection.
Firstly you need to understand the type of Asbestos you are dealing with. Friable Asbestos is a material that contains Asbestos that can be broken up with your hand like a brittle plaster sheet. In this form the product is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and can only be sampled by a LICENSED ASBESTOS ASSESSOR.
Non-friable Asbestos products are hard and cannot be broken up by hand, like a lino tile or concrete wall. These non-friable products can be sampled using our DIY home Asbestos sampling kit downloadable from this page.
Asbestos fibres are dangerous when released into the air and breathed in, which is why you need to follow certain steps whenever dealing with suspect materials to avoid exposure.
If you are not sure your home contains Asbestos or are uncertain which parts of your home could contain Asbestos watch this short video.
